God has given us roughly 6 trillion brain cells so turn of the telly, grab your Bible, then a good Christian book and start reading.
Book of the Month and Recommended Reading will hopefully suggest some solid and worthwhile Christian material for you to sink you teeth into.
Book of the Month (November)
For November we have a great book for all ages (well... from about the age of 10),
Everything you want to know about the Bible by Peter Downey & Ben Shaw.
Why is this book sooooooo good? Peter and Ben, two ozzy boys, (Ben was born in Canada though we won't hold that against him) explain in a very clear and extremely fun style what the Bible is, the history of the Bible, the Big Picture - giving an overview of both the Old and New Testaments. Not to be dismissed though as just a laugh - this book will give you a terrific grounding in understanding your Bible and Jesus a whole lot better. Read it for yourself then give it to your friends. Available at Church and http://www.koorong.com.

Isn't being good good enough? How can God love me? Can I really believe the Bible is true? This modern Australian classic explains simply how anyone may enter into new life with God through friendship with Jesus. One of Australia's foremost evangelists, John Chapman, introduces us with clarity and simplicity to the Jesus he has loved and served for over 50 years. He explains what a Christian is, how to become a Christian and how to begin a new life through Jesus. |

I love structure and what I love about Don Carson's 'For the Love of God' volumes 1 and 2 is that he has taken Robert Murray M'Cheyne's plan for reading the Bible in a year and improved on it by explaining 1 of the chapters to be read then leaving you to prayerfully read the four chapters yourself. Starting at Genesis 1, Ezra 1, Matthew 1 and Acts 1, this method of reading four different sections each day keeps your quiet times fresh and also helps you understand the big themes across the Bible. |
