Recent Meetings – Leadership Vision and Planning (8 Dec 2018)

On Saturday 8 Dec, our elders and deacons met to pray and plan about the year ahead in the life of our church. We had a very profitable time together, and are grateful for your prayers for us as we met. Here are some of the highlights from the meeting.

  1. Session has planned a review of the Grace vision statement over the next six months, with input from the congregation. We hope to commit together to a new statement at the Sep 2019 AGM
  2. By the first term of next year, we hope to have a more intentional plan for elders to care for the church family
  3. By Dec 2019, we are aiming to establish a succession plan for when John returns to the US in June 2021
  4. In the new year, to add a "Church Life" slot to our worship services, which rotates each month as follows:
    • 1st Sunday: Lord's Supper
    • 2nd Sunday: Ministry Spotlight
    • 3rd Sunday: Real Life Stories (testimonies, etc.)
    • 4th Sunday: Missions Report
    • 5th Sunday: Leadership Spot
  5. Green-lighted a plan to construct a storage cupboard behind the back hall
  6. Green-lighted a plan to refresh the crèche (flooring and furnishings)
  7. Other discussions included developing our Grace Community Group ministry, Christian education, upgrades to the audio systems and website/logo and design, and establishing and growing our core youth group kids as disciples of Jesus.
Not everything that was discussed evolved into specific items for action, but the leaders really enjoyed the opportunity to talk and share about where we feel our church is at now and where we would like to see it go in the future, as the Lord guides and provides. Please continue to pray for the plans we have put forward, and if you have any question or ideas, please talk to us!
