Missions Update, March 2019 (The Handasyde Family)

We made it!

It’s all been happening! Passports were given to us in time for our flight to America on Saturday. Praise God for the multitude of answered prayers this has involved. We arrived early on Sunday 3/03, in time to be present in body (but probably not quite sane and awake in mind) for the start of Aviation Orientation on Monday 4/03.

We are at 94% of our financial support now. (Insert crazy, celebratory jig here!) Thank you again for your faithfulness in praying for us, and your generosity in giving. We are encouraged to hear friends tell us how excited they are to be able to partner with us, to be a part of what God is doing through Bible translation in PNG. This is what we hope for…infectious excitement about being part of God’s work in bringing people to himself.

It turns out raising partnership for support is a real journey of learning more, complete dependence on God, and of finding joy in our interdependence with others. Several times friends have reminded us (wisely) that God has as much work to do in the heart of those who are sent as he does in those to whom they are sent. (Clearly, it’s quite obvious that we need a lot of ‘refining’!) We’ve been told the last leg of partnership development can be the hardest. So please be praying with us that God would continue working to call people to join this purpose.

'Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.' - 1 Peter 5:6-7.

What is happening now?

The Handasydes are living in Waxhaw in North Carolina and will be living there for the next 5 months. Conveniently, Robert walks from his home to his classes where he is currently doing his aviation orientation, focusing on engine maintenance, which will last for around another 14 weeks. Mechanics is something Robert has less experience with so pray that God would be with him during the lessons!
