October 2018 Missions Update

Here is an update on our GCCB – supported missionaries and prayer requests for them:

Richards Family: Theology Training with the Presbyterian Church in Vanuatu

-Tom is overloaded at the moment and tired. Please pray for rest and that he can teach clearly.

-Pray for the students who will graduate at the end of the year. Pray that their last classes will continue to impact on them and grow them in their faith and knowledge, and pray that God uses them powerfully when they graduate.

-Pray for Margaret who has just started taking a “mentor group” – she is reading Philippians with a group of women (mostly wives of students) – so pray that she can teach in a way that really helps the women to ‘hear’ the text.

-They will take a holiday in Australia at the end of the year so pray that they get recharged ready for a big year in 2019.

Marshall Family: Christian Academy of Japan (CAJ), Tokyo (OMF)

-Pray for God’s peace for those missionaries who live and minister in Japan following the recent earthquakes and typhoon.

-Pray for the Marshalls as they speak in various churches on their home assignment, and for wisdom in balancing their time here in Australia

-Safe travels for Wendy as she heads to Singapore this week for a Christian writers’ conference

Robert & Loralie Handasyde: Preparing to go with Wycliffe/JAARS to PNG

-Robert and Loralie will be heading to the JAARS base in the USA in January, God-willing and VISA-permitting, for 5 months of cultural and aviation orientation training. Pray for them as they organise everything that needs to be done before they leave.

-Pray that they can get closer to the full support they need for their term in PNG.

-Pray for Bible translation in PNG, that God’s Word in people’s heart language would bring new life, hope and healing.

Karen & Karen Hopping: Solomon Islands (Wycliffe).

-Please continue to pray for Karen’s last few months working for Wycliffe, and that her 11 years of work in Bible-based literacy would continue to impact the hearts and lives of Solomon Islanders.

Dave & Anna Fowler: AFES, University of the Sunshine Coast

-Please continue to pray for the Fowlers as they seek to grow Christian students in their faith on campus.

-Pray for Anna who will be speaking at the Women’s event at Grace in November.
