Prayer Focus 20 October 2019

Each week we focus our prayers around a specific topic or need, as well as one of our Core Commitments from our church vision. The prayers in our church services will reflect this, but we’d love you to be praying with us around these things in your Grace Community Groups and in your own personal prayer time.

Christians At Work

This week, our prayer focus is for Christians at work.

‘Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.’ (Colossians 3:23–24 ESV)

  1. Thank the Lord for providing for many of us through the work we have
  2. Pray for the Lord to provide work for those who are unemployed
  3. Pray that we would work at our jobs in ways which honour Christ, with habits and attitudes shaped by the gospel
  4. Pray for wisdom and grace to take opportunities to share our hope in Jesus with those we work with
  5. Pray for wisdom to not idolise our work, or to confuse work with our ultimate purpose as God’s people in this world
  6. Pray that we might not have to choose between our jobs and our commitment to Jesus, but that if we ever do, the Lord would keep us gracious, faithful and entirely dependant on him.

Core Commitment – The Unity of the Spirit

Each week, we also pray through one of the Core Commitments from our church vision. This week’s commitments is

‘By grace, we are committed to grow together in Jesus
through the unity of his Holy Spirit.’ (see Ephesians 4:3)

Please pray with us that the Holy Spirit would unite us together more and more as a church family, that among us there would be peace, humility, gentleness, patience and love as we live together as followers of Jesus.
