Each week we focus our church family prayers on a topic or theme. This week, our prayer focus is for distinctly Christian leadership.
‘And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”’ (Mark 10:42–45 ESV)
- Thank the Lord for the faithful , humble ministers of the gospel that we have known
- Pray that church leaders across the world would model truly Christlike leadership, and resist the temptations towards power, control, reputation or material gain
- Pray that we would encourage and highly value Christian leaders who humbly, faithfully and honestly lead like Jesus, sacrificially to serve those in their care
- Pray for healing for those who have been hurt by un-Christlike leadership, and that their trust in the Lord Jesus would be restored and strengthened.
Core Commitment
Each week, we also pray through one of our church’s core commitments. This week’s core commitment is to engage our neighbours with the gospel.
‘By grace, we are committed to declare to the world that Jesus Christ is Lord through engaging ordinary people outside the church with the person and claims of Jesus Christ.’ (see Matthew 24:14, 1 Corinthians 9:22, 1 Peter 3:15)
Ask God to give us the courage and the wisdom to share the good news of the gospel with those we meet.
