Prayer Focus: ‘For Our Local Government’ (5 Jan 2020)

Each week we focus our prayers around a specific topic or need, as well as one of our Core Commitments from our church vision. The prayers in our church services will reflect this, but we’d love you to be praying with us around these things in your Grace Community Groups and in your own personal prayer time.

For our local government

This week, our prayer focus is for those who are local government officials, our council Mayor and Councillors, and all who work in our council offices.

1 Timothy 2:1–3 (ESV)First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,”

Jeremiah 29:7  Lord you tell us to “seek the welfare of the city where [you] have sent us into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare we will find our welfare.”  (ESV)

Proverbs 11:10-11  You’ve promised that “when it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.  By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.” (ESV)

Core Commitment By grace, we are committed to learn about Jesus through the regular expository preaching and teaching of the Bible.
2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV) preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching
Please pray for our preachers to approach God’s Word humbly, and not shy away from the difficult passages in the Bible; to rely on God to speak in his Word, etc.
