Prayer Focus: ‘For Our Nation, Australia’ (23 Jan 2022)

Prayer Focus

Each week we focus our church family prayers on a topic or theme. This week, our prayer focus is for our nation, Australia.

‘First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.’ (1 Timothy 2:1–4 ESV)

  • Commit our nation to the Lord, especially in light of current social, political and economic uncertainty
  • As we approach Australia Day, pray for reconciliation and forgiveness between Australians, and thank the Lord for the gospel message which was brought with the first fleet settlers
  • Pray for our leaders as they make difficult decisions, that they would do so to serve the nation and not themselves, and that all Australians would live in peace and dignity
  • Pray for the gospel to speed ahead in Australia, so that people are saved forever in Jesus.

Core Commitment

Each week, we also pray through one of our church’s core commitments. This week’s core commitment is to gospel-minded love for our neighbours.

By grace, we are committed to grow together in Jesus through sharing the good news
that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, gave up his life for the sins of the world,
and rose from death to rule God’s Kingdom forever.
(see 1 Corinthians 15:1-5)

Please pray that, as the body of Christ, we would be partners together in sharing the life-giving gospel of the Lord Jesus.
