Each week we focus our church family prayers on a topic or theme. This week, our prayer focus is for the gospel (today being what is often remembered as ‘Reformation Sunday’).
‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”’ (Romans 1:16–17 ESV)
- Thank the LORD for that he made a way for us to be justified in his sight through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus in our place.
- Ask the LORD to forgive us when we have tried to justify ourselves in his sight through our own works or performance.
- Ask the LORD to inspire us with the truth of the gospel, that we might be strengthened for daily life, look forward more to heaven, and be eager to share this great news with others.
Each week, we also pray through one of our church’s core commitments. This week’s core commitment is to expository teaching and preaching.
By grace, we are committed to learn about Jesus through the regular expository preaching and teaching of the Bible.
(see 2 Timothy 4:2)
Please pray to thank the Lord for the Bible, and pray that we would read it and study it eagerly, even the difficult and challenging bits, and allow it to reveal God in Christ to us.
